EDISON, N.J., Dec. 26 (ZFJ) — A 20-inch water main broke near M Lane and Woodbridge Avenue at about midnight today, Thursday, Dec. 26.

Residents served by Edison Water Utility along Woodbridge Avenue, Route 27, Route 1, and areas up to Talmadge are experiencing little to no water pressure.

A boil water advisory has been in effect since 3:10 p.m.

Emergency repair crews have been working on isolating the break, according to Mayor Sam Joshi.

In an update at 7:31 p.m. today, Joshi reported that an insertion valve is being put into the water main line to limit the water flow and allow crews to perform repairs. The township hopes to have water fully restored by tomorrow morning.

In an update at 8:44 p.m., Joshi said that the township has opened the Edison Senior Center at 2963 Woodbridge Avenue for residents to use public bathrooms.

Edison’s Nixle alert system shows that water main breaks were recently reported at Price Drive on Dec. 17 and Old Post Road from Clausen Road to Beech Street on Friday, Dec. 20.

Edison’s town hall was closed for the day due to the water main break.
