EDISON, N.J., July 1 (ZFJ) — Edison’s first splash park is now open to the public at Papaianni Park, announced Mayor Sam Joshi.

The opening was kicked off with a first ever youth league pep rally on June 29, and the park was made available to the general public the following day.

In keeping with inventor Thomas Edison’s history with the township, the splash pad is shaped like a lightbulb. The park also features a 20 foot replica of the Edison light tower, globes, and water guns shaped like classic film cameras.

Public restrooms and free parking are available. There is no concession stand and food is not permitted, but beverages in plastic bottles are allowed.

The park will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. until Labor Day (Sept. 2).

Entry to the park is free but requires advance registration on CommunityPass. Attendants will verify registration and offer assistance during operating hours.

For any questions, the Recreation Department can be contacted at (732) 248-7316 on Mondays to Fridays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
