Man charged for South Plainfield condo complex triple killing

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J., Nov. 28 (ZFJ) — A South Plainfield man has been arrested and charged in connection with the Coppola Drive shooting on Monday, Nov. 27, announced Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Peter Papa of the South Plainfield Police Department.

Om Brahmbhatt, 23, was arrested without incident and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.

On Monday, authorities responded to a shots fired report at a residence in the Traditions condominium complex.

Officers found three victims, all South Plainfield residents, at the scene. Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt, 72, and Bindu Brahmbhatt, 72, had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, 38, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Authorities determined early on that there was no threat to the public and that the shooting was targeted.

Om Brahmbhatt lived with the victims and was at the residence when police arrived at the scene.
