Dec. 28 (ZFJ) — Taylor Swift became Spotify’s top global artist of 2023 with over 26.1 billion streams worldwide, announced the music streaming platform in its 2023 Wrapped campaign on Nov. 29.

She dethroned Bad Bunny, who’d held the title for the past three years. Coming in second place, he had a “standout year” with his new album nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana. The Weeknd, Drake, and Peso Pluma also made the top five.

“Um ok this is unreal?? I just wanted to say to anyone who listened to my music this year, anywhere in the world, thank you,” wrote Taylor Swift on her social media accounts. “Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me.” She added that her song “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” was released on streaming platforms.

In addition, 200,000 “break-up” playlists were created on Valentine’s Day.

The Indian classical instrumental music, Afrobeats, and Mandopop genres saw significant growth in 2023.
